Proposed Project Details

On March 06, 2012, the non-profit organization Flying Crown Land Group tasked with easing the burdens of government, presented an unsolicited bid to assume a land lease for the former Braniff Operations and Maintenance Base. Three subsequent meetings were held with Department of Aviation officials to justify the awarding of the lease to a non-profit.

After meeting all necessary requirements, the Department of Aviation has remained uncooperative with our organization and have moved forward with plans to demolish this historic building. We strongly believe these actions are unnecessary and irresponsible.

In our latest efforts, another revised unsolicited bid was presented on November 12, 2012 that mirrors the terms of a competing bid and continues to provide over $200,000 in additional annual lease revenue and a committment of $7-10MM more in capital improvements without a diversion of aeronautical use land.

Each floor has been designed to maximize the utilization of public and private space. See a description and floor plan for renovation here.
